Get caught up on the events of this on-going chronicle through the story-time links, which detail the events of the gaming sessions.
One hundred and thirty-seven years ago, the Demesne of Sêmont lent its support to the creation of a Mont in its southernmost territory. The Tôrdic Clan was given permission and resources by the Jarl of Sêmont and so, the Mont of Founderstone was built. The building took nearly two decades and the area prospered under the wisdom of the Tôdic Clan; the Mont became influential in the politics of the Demesne, gaining population and wealth to rival that of Forestgate.
This was not to last, as 100 years ago, a Cataclysm struck the area and the Shattered Mountains took the brunt of the tremblers. Founderstone was destroyed and the Tôdic Clan was decimated. They took what was left of their family and retreated to Forestgate and relative safety. There, they set to rebuilding their family and their fortunes.
In the present day, the Jarls of both Sêmont and Forestgate have had discussions with the Clan and convinced them to sponsor the revitalization of Founderstone. They have gathered their resources and are prepared to return to the ruins of the Mont to re-found it.
The action of the chronicle will take place in the Demesne of Sêmont, in and around the ruins of Founderstone. Glôdrin Tôrdic, a competent, but inexperienced warrior, has been chosen by his Clan to lead the effort to revitalize the Mont and he has called for assistance in doing so.
The setting of the chronicle will explore the ruins of Founderstone, nestled amid the Shattered Mountains, the nearby Duar village of Crôt, the foothills that lead to the forest of the Féôdrim, and the southern portion of the Demesne.
The action of the chronicle revolves around the re-establishment of the Mont, through both the exploration and rebuilding of the ruins, the winning of the hearts and minds of the area residents, and acting as a border region to the Demesne as a whole.
The genre of the chronicle is Low-Fantasy, featuring a a gritty and realistic feel, where mortal characters strive for prosperity in a neutrally aligned world. Good and evil exist in the hearts of all sentient beings and absolutes are rare to find. The milieu does support some elements of High Fantasy, such as magical creatures and powerful mages, but these are not everyday encounters or concerns. The population of the milieu are mortal beings with the concerns of mortal beings. They do not have the advantages of "magic shops" to buy potions or "high priests" to return them to life. Mystical objects are rare and powerful, and so, the populace relies on their skills and abilities more than an arsenal of "magic items."
The mood of the game will be optimistic, as the action of the Chronicle focuses on recovering what has been lost to natural disaster and re-establishing rulership over a neglected area for the prosperity of all.
Characters in the Founderstone Chronicle represent personages that Glôdrin Tôrdic have engaged to assist in the re-founding of the Mont. The characters possess with skills, abilities, or the loyalties needed by Glôdrin for success in the mission.
Characters may be either ingénues with abilities, seasoned veterans, or masters of their crafts. They may be of any age and any profession that fits into the overall mission, and they must desire a positive outcome to the mission.
The characters must be of the Duar race (include any of the subspecies); other races are possible, but only with GM permission. While it is assumed that the characters will have originated from the Demesne of Sêmont, this is not a strict requirement. The characters may be from Clan who are well-renowned, or from families without notoriety. They can come from any walk of life, but must at least present as respectable and loyal to the new Jarl.
