Fantastic Civilizations
The world of Primeval has hosted many civilizations over the course of hundreds of millions of years of its history, each birthing itself, rising to adulthood, and eventually passing away. Each has left its mark upon the continent, either in its history, as ruins upon the landscape, or as pockets of its culture and races, still active after so long. Below are brief descriptions of the major cultures still active in the world of Primeval:
- The Duar: Arguable the most prolific and advanced culture on the Continent of Anár today, the Duar are a race of stocky, underground dwelling beings that occupy several major nations. The Duar have several species that endorse a contiguous culture based on personal responsibility, the importance of the clan and family, and upon the honoring of the natural forces of the world.
- The Ursuar: Relatives of the Duar, the Usuar nonetheless stand as a separate culture. The Ursuar are quiet, silent giants that live in the deepest parts of the wilderness, secluded from other races by choice. They are consummate lore keepers and watchers, preserving memories and secrets for far longer than other races.
- The Kernuar: Worshipers of nature's cycles and its wild lands, the Kernuar strive to live in harmony with the natural environments, taking its bounties through measured use of it's resources. The Kernuar are slender, horned folk, who, like the Duar, have several species that share a common culture.
- The Setasi: As ancient as the Raperan, the Setasi are a tall, smooth-skinned race whose civilization has retreated to a continental-island that tales say was raised by magick. The Setasi are rumored to be natural sorcerers and to have an advanced level of technology. Their society, however, was split in the distant past, some of them choosing to dwell under the waves of the ocean, while others maintained their traditional existence.
- The Sâpens: The youngest of the races, the Sâpens have a primitive mentality and a culture based on physical dominance and tribal rivalries. They are fractious and violent and are still seeking their place in the world. The Sâpens have several species that fall into a social hierarchy.
- The Rapteran: Remnants of an ancient time when their culture and civilization ruled the world, the Rapteran have been in protracted decline for tens of millions of years. The Rapteran are reptillian and once had dozens of species among their ranks. Now, it's only conjecture how many of them have survived, as the Rapteran generally keep to themselves. They have little regard for the newer, upstart civilizations and generally avoid interaction with them.
- Others: Throughout the Lands of Anár, there are many other races living within the bounds of the other civilization.
