Civilizations on the Fringe
In and around the dominant civilizations in the Lands of Anár are smaller cultures. These cultures are no less important than their more widespread neighbors, but they dwell on the sidelines of the larger political and social interactions.
- Mîselid: The Mîselid are a race of sentient fungus beings who have worked their way into the fringes of the other cultures, adapting their outward physical forms to mimic the humanoid appearance of the other major races. As a race, they are driven by the desire to coexist in a state of symbiosis with those cultures, but, because of their alien nature, they are often regarded with degrees of mistrust by the other races. The Mîselid race sport a multiplicity of coloration and outward form, but divide themselves into sub-species based on their chief philosophical viewpoints.
- Draceran: Superficially related to the Rapteran, the Draceran are nonetheless a different race all together. They are ancient remnants of a civilization that fell into decline millions of years ago, when they ruled the world. Advanced beyond all other races in the use of magick (save perhaps the Setasi), the Draceran are monstrous reptilian creatures whose will becomes manifest through magick. In modern times, the Draceran are enigmatic loners, dwelling on the fringes of civilization, yet content to observe the interactions of the other species. Tales say there are no two Draceran alike, but this is a myth based on superficial observation; in truth, the Draceran were a multiplicitous race with many species. The Draceran that are observed by other races today are the sole survivors of those species.
