To the Extremes
The Kernuar mindset is one that seeks balance in all things. In order to be in balance, the Kernuar race has recognized the axes of the world, to which each, through their choices, attempts to be the fulcrum of energies. The Incarna of the Kernuar represent the poles of the axes, extremes whose interaction generates the aspects of the world.
The Incarna of the Kernuar, predictably, come in pairs and each balances the other out.
- Rheanna: "The Lady of the Wood," Rheanna is associated with the environments in which the Kernuar live. While called "The Lady of the Wood," she represents all aspects of any natural environment the Kernuar dwell within, giving voice to the voiceless and representing the will of the inanimate. She is primarily associated with the life sustaining elements of an ecosystem, the plant life, the soil, and the water, all of which interact to generate fertility and the nurturing of life.
- Rheor: "The Lord of the Wood," Rheor serves as the counterpart to Rheanna, representing all life that dwells within her environments, be they animal or sentient. Whereas Rheanna generates the resources of an environment, Rheor uses them. Whereas Rheanna represents the life-generating aspects of the land, Rheor represents the death-dealing aspects. Whereas Rheanna nurtures, Rheor challenges.
- Lumant: "The Lord of Light," Lumant is associated with the day, the labor and work that marks the day, and by association, the sun. Lumant is credited with being a bringer of light, understand, and revelation to the world and his presence dispels secrets and reveals the truth of things. He stands in counterpoint to Scurant, his suiter and sometime lover, who believes in change and mystery.
- Scurant: "The Lady of Mystery," Scurant is associated with the night, the moon, shadow, and all things indistinct or changeable. In counterpoint to her lover, Lumant, Scurant is most comfortable existing in the shadows, providing change and mystery to the world where Lumant brings the illumination of distinct truth. To Scurant's view, there are no absolutes and all things are mutable given time and opinion. She promote inquiry and is the custodian of all secrets.
- Sesura: "The Lady of the Turning," Sesura is associated with the passage of time as felt by the changing of the seasons and how it affects the environment. She is thus, also heavily associated with the weather, from the sunniest day to the heaviest storms. She is often viewed as inevitable and still, somewhat capricious in her tempers. Sesura is honored as a passionate Incarna, in counterpoint to her husband, Surran, who remains aloof and constant.
- Surran: "The Lord of Time," Surran represents the constancy of stone as it lasts through time, unaffected by the living world. He is as solid and timeless as the mountains of the world, as strong and permanent as the hardest stone. Surran is credited with being just as aloof and unyielding as the things as well and stands in counterpoint to the passionate, oft-chaotic behavior of his wife, Sesura. Surran, through the years, has gained associate to other permanent and constant things, including the traditions of the Kernuar.
- Eldor: "The Lord of the Art," Eldor is associated with the esoteric energies that run through the world, a master of focusing of the energies through will to affect reality. He is credited with being the first, and therefore best, artist in all forms of art and magick and is thus, the tutor of the Kernuar race in such areas. Whereas Eldor represents the act of an inhabitant of the world exerting energy and change on the world, in counterpoint to his colleague, Elda, who represents the energy of the world acting upon an inhabitant.
- Elda: "The Lady of Fate," Elda represents the actions of fate, destiny, and the collective consequences of the choices of others, as it acts upon the inhabitants of the world. All these forces are mysterious and difficult to track or view, and so Elda is often associated with such mysteries. Likewise, she is associated with the deep sky, the stars, and the celestial objects and thus, shares a certain association with Scurant. Elda regards her counterpart, Eldor, as a trusted colleague, each with their own spheres of concern and control.
