Esoteric Energy
Running through the foundations of the world of Primeval is a metaphysical force that is inherent to all antimate and inantimate things. Called by many names in the many cultures of the Lands of Anár, this force is potent, focused by by the will of its users, and able to affect change, from the simple to the radical.
This force, often called magick, has a variety of expressions among the various cultures of Anár, whether focused through intellectual research and scientific principles; through religious zeal, dogma, and doctrine; through spiritual exhaltation; or through sheer force of will, magick is the birthright of all life. It takes skill to master and execute, but magick touches everything.
Magick, in all its forms, manifests in many varied forms and in many different flavors. Listed below are some of the ways in which it manifests:
- Incarna: The esoteric forces of Primeval find their most powerful focus in the Incarna, collections of conceptual thought made manifest into physical, spiritual, and magickal beings. These "deities" of Primeval find their greatest anchors in cultures, as the collective belief of a society's members shape the expression of an Incarna's power.
- Arcane Forces: While practically limitless in its varied forms of expression, the esoteric energies of Primeval do appear in common ways. From elemental energies, to extra-planar energies, to the esoterica of magick itself, these arcane forces differ in properties, advantage, and limitations.
- Esotericists: The inhabitants of Primeval all feel magick around them, flowing and vibrant. Through hard won skills, they are able to tap the power and command it to their will. There are many professions throughout the cultures of Primeval, each with their own beliefs and expression of mystic ability.
- Cosmology: The esoteric energies of Primeval flow through the landscape and into the very foundations of reality. There are many locales, from physical environments, to spiritual environments, to places outside mundane reality, that have powerful mystic resonances.
